Committed to give free ration to 10 crore people of West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee


Recalling the martyrs of the 1959 food movement, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday that her government is fully committed to providing free ration to poor people by June 2021 in the wake of the Corona virus (COVID-19) epidemic. And under the Food Partner Scheme, about 100 million people of the state will get its benefits.

Ms. Banerjee tweeted, "In this era of COVID-19 epidemic in Bengal we are providing food security to around 100 million people of the state under the Food Partner Scheme. Free ration will be made available to the people by June 2021.

'Food Partner' is an ambitious scheme of the Government of West Bengal which is being implemented by the Food and Supplies Department of the State Government.
