The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to develop commercial facilities in Anand Vihar and Karkardooma metro station premises over an area of about 17000 square meters. Tenders have been issued for this. At both stations, travelers will also get facilities such as banks, educational institutions, or hotels in addition to shopping at the mall.
To provide better facilities to the residents of Delhi, DMRC has prepared to develop both metro station premises as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) project. For this, facilities including 9500 square meter area at Karkardooma metro station and retail in Concourse will also be developed under separate packages from Anand Vihar metro station ground to the second floor. The project envisages leasing for 15 years while rent for commercial premises can be waived for the initial six months to one year.
Financial health will also improve
Along with developing facilities, special care will also be taken of greenery. DMRC has suffered financial losses during the lockdown in the Corona era. It is believed that with the encouragement of commercial activities in the metro stations, DMRC's income will also increase with the availability of many facilities to the passengers.
