The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned actress Riya Chakraborty, accused of abetting actor Sushant Singh Rajput for suicide, on Friday for more than 10 hours. Riya, who first appeared before the CBI, left the DRDO guest house in Santa Cruz after 9 pm, an official said. The officer said that she has been asked to appear again.
Earlier, Riya left for the guest house from her house at around 10:40 am, where the CBI team is staying. Before Riya, Siddharth Pithani and manager Samuel Miranda, who lived with the late actor in Sushant's flat, had reached the DRDO guest house.
The officer said that it is believed that the Superintendent of Police (SP) rank of the Central Agency questioned the actress on various aspects of the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
He informed that Pithani was taken from the DRDO guest house premises by CBI officials in the afternoon. It is believed that he was taken to the CBI office in Bandra Kurla Complex and was brought back at around 7.30 pm.
The CBI team has been in the city for the past eight days to investigate the Sushant death case. On Thursday, he recorded the statement of Riya's brother Shouvik Chakraborty. The CBI has so far questioned many people including Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Dipesh Sawant.
The agency has also recorded statements of Rajput's chartered accountant Sandeep Sridhar and accountant Rajat Mewati. Before taking over the investigation of the CBI case, Mumbai Police had recorded the statement of Riya Chakraborty in connection with Rajput suicide. Significantly, the body of the 34-year-old actor was found hanging in his flat in Bandra on June 14.
