Famous playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as Ballu and SPB, who mesmerized millions with his young voice, died on Friday at a hospital in Chennai while undergoing treatment for COVID-19. He was 74.
SPB, who sang over 40,000 songs in a career spanning nearly 55 years, was undergoing treatment at MGM Healthcare since 5 August.
SPB was hospitalized with "mild" symptoms of COVID-19. On the same day, the singer posted a video on her social media page and said "I have been feeling a little discomfort for the last two to three days." I also feel pressure in the chest. "
