Geethu Mohandas's crime drama 'Mutton' will be the closing film of IFFM 2020


The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2020 Indian Film Festival, held this year due to the ongoing epidemic, officially concluded its special eleventh edition with a screening of Geetu Mohandas' imaginative film Moothon, Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is in the lead role along with Shashank Arora, Sobhita Dhulipala, Roshan Mathew, etc.

Co-written by Anurag Kashyap with Sreeja Sreedharan and Geetu, the film has been praised for its unique idea and Rajiv Rai's brilliant cinematography. Geetu's last film, Liar's Dice, was very famous and was even included in the Oscars on behalf of India that year.

Mutton is the story of a young boy who swims along the sea from Lakshadweep to Mumbai in search of his elder brother. The harshness of the city grips him and he reaches Kamathipura. The plot depicts ideas beginning with the prevailing notion of cross-dressing, gender, identity, and fate. Effectively balancing realism and symbolism, Mohandas tells a powerful story of love, loss, identity, and a sense of belonging.

Festival director Mitu Bhowmik Lange said, "This is a touching film that speaks to you on a very human level. At its core, it is a story of a sensitive one-sex love that has touched our hearts. For our loved ones. The yearning and the pain they feel has been the mood of the year. There could not have been a better time to see Mutton. Like every year, this year also the festival, IFFM offered over 60 films in 17 languages, including shorts, feature films, documentaries made locally and around the world.
