Today the stock market closed on the green mark on the fourth trading day of the week. The Bombay Stock Exchange's major index Sensex closed at 52,232.43 with a gain of 382.95 points (0.74 percent). On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 15,690.35, up 114.15 points, or 0.73 percent. The BSE Sensex gained 882.40 points or 1.74 percent during the last week.
In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei index is trading up 41 points at 28,987. China's Shanghai Composite Index gained four points at 3,601. Hong Kong's Heng Seng Index is trading 44 points down at 29,223. Korea's Kospi index fell 23 points to 3,247. On Wednesday, the US Dow Jones gained 0.07 percent to close at 34,600.40, up 25.07 points. The Nasdaq closed up 19.85 points at 13,756.30, up 0.14 per cent.
The market capitalization of eight of the top 10 companies increased last week
The market capitalization of eight of the country's 10 most valuable companies combined increased by Rs 1,39,566.52 crore last week. Reliance Industries, TCS, and Infosys were the top gainers in this. During the week ended Friday, only two companies, Hindustan Unilever and Bajaj Finance saw a decline in their market capitalization.

Talking about the big stocks, today the shares of Titan, ONGC, Itcher Motors, L&T, and Axis Bank closed on the green mark. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank, Wipro, Dr. Reddy, Tata Steel, and Bajaj Auto closed on the red mark.
Keeping an eye on the sectoral index
If we look at the sectoral index, today all the sectors except pharma closed on the green mark. These include IT, Media, PSU Banks, FMCG, Realty, Metal, Banks, Private Banks, and Finance Services.

In early trade, the Sensex opened at 52117.84 with a gain of 268.36 points (0.52 percent). On the other hand, Nifty opened at 15658.40 with a gain of 82.20 points (0.53 percent).
The market was closed on a flat level on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Sensex-Nifty closed at a flat level after the day's volatility. The Sensex closed at 51,849.48, down 85.40 points (0.16 per cent). On the other hand, Nifty closed at 15,575.20, up 1.35 points or 0.01 percent.
