Today Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the decisions taken in the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which had an impact on the domestic stock market. The stock market closed on the red mark on Friday. The Bombay Stock Exchange's flagship index Sensex closed 132.38 points (0.25 percent) down at 52,100.05. On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 15,670.25, down 20.10 points, or 0.13 percent. The BSE Sensex gained 882.40 points or 1.74 percent during the last week. The Sensex-Nifty closed at record levels in the last trading session.



Important announcements made by the central bank

RBI has not made any change in the repo rate. It remains at 4 percent. The marginal standing facility (MSF) rate is also at 4.25 percent. The reverse repo rate has also been kept constant at 3.35 percent. The central bank has kept the monetary stance 'moderate'. Taking into account all the aspects such as coronavirus epidemic, PMI data, the way companies operate during the pandemic, and expectation of a normal monsoon, a real growth rate of 9.5 percent is expected in the financial year 2021-22. Inflation is likely to remain at 5.1 percent in the financial year 2021-22.


Adani Enterprises shares up 30% in five days

Shares of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani Group headed by Gautam Adani, Asia's and India's second-largest rich, rose for the fifth consecutive day on Friday. Today it rose by 7.43 percent to reach a new high of Rs 1701.20. Adani Enterprises has become the second most valuable company of the Adani Group. The stock has gained over 30 percent this week.

Talking about the big stocks, today the shares of ONGC, Bajaj Finserv, Grasim, Coal India, and Tata Motors closed on the green mark. On the other hand, Nestle India, SBI, HDFC Bank, Hindalco, and Axis Bank closed on the red mark.

Keeping an eye on the sectoral index

Looking at the sectoral index, today banks, financial services, pharma, PSU banks, FMCG, and private banks closed on the red mark. While IT, Media, Realty, Metal, and Auto closed on the green mark.

The market capitalization of eight of the top 10 companies increased last week

The market capitalization of eight of the country's 10 most valuable companies combined increased by Rs 1,39,566.52 crore last week. Reliance Industries, TCS, and Infosys were the top gainers in this. During the week ended Friday, only two companies, Hindustan Unilever and Bajaj Finance saw a decline in their market capitalization.

In early trade, the Sensex opened with a gain of 5.01 points (0.01 percent) at 52237.44 and the Nifty opened at 15691.30 with a gain of 0.90 points (0.01 percent).

On Thursday, the Sensex-Nifty closed on the green mark after a day's ups and downs. The Sensex closed at 52,232.43 with a gain of 382.95 points (0.74 percent). On the other hand, Nifty closed at 15,690.35, up 114.15 points or 0.73 percent.
