After the positive trend of Asian markets and gains in Wall Street on Thursday, on the last trading day of the week, on Friday, the domestic stock market returned to the edge and closed on the green mark. The Bombay Stock Exchange's flagship index Sensex closed up 835.06 points at 37388.66, up 2.28 percent. On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange Nifty gained 2.26 percent (244.70 points) to close at 11050.25 level.
Shopping in global markets
In yesterday's trade, the Dow Jones of America gained 52.31 points, or 0.20 percent, to close at 26,815. Nasdaq gained 39.28 points, or 0.37 percent, to close at 10,672. The S&P 500 index gained 9.67 points, or 0.30 percent, to close at 3,247.
Rupee closed up by 28 paise
On Friday, the rupee gained 28 paise to close at 73.61 (provisional) per dollar due to an improvement in investor sentiment due to the rise in the domestic stock markets. The rupee opened strong at 73.76 per dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market. It later gained 28 paise to close at 73.61 per dollar.
The rupee had lost 32 paise to close at 73.89 a dollar on Thursday. The rupee rose to a high of 73.56 per dollar during trading. It also touched a low of 73.77 per dollar. Meanwhile, the dollar index, showing the dollar's position against the six currencies, rose by 0.01 percent to 94.36.

Talking about the big stocks, today the shares of Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech, Cipla, Bharti Airtel IndusInd Bank closed on the green mark. SBI Life, BPCL, and UPL closed at the red mark.
Monitoring of sectoral index
If we look at the sectoral index, then all the sectors closed on the green mark today. These include Finance Services, Banks, Private Banks, FMCG, realty, IT, Pharma, Auto, Media, PSU Banks, and Metals.

In early trade, the Sensex opened at 36912.51, up 358.91 points, or 0.98 percent, and the Nifty opened 0.79 percent, or 85.20 points, at 10890.75.

The stock markets recorded a fall for the sixth consecutive trading session on Thursday. The Sensex was down 1114.82 points to close at 36553.60, down 2.96 percent. At the same time, the Nifty was down 2.93 percent (326.30 points) at the level of 10805.55. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined from Rs 152.71 lakh crore to Rs 148.98 lakh crore at the end of the session.
