The domestic stock market closed flat on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, amid a positive trend in global markets. The Bombay Stock Exchange's flagship index Sensex closed down 8.41 points at 37973.22, a slight decline of 0.02 percent. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty lost 0.05 percent (5.15 points) to close at 11222.40. Investors are eyeing the presidential debate in the US and this week's economic activity.

The US market Dow Jones was up 410.10 points at 27,584.10, up 1.51 percent. The Nasdaq also gained 1.91 percent to close at 11,364.50. The S&P was up 1.61 percent to close at 3351.60, up 53.14 points. Along with this, the European stock market also saw a great increase. However, Japan's Nikkei fell 0.30 percent and the Hong Kong market fell 0.56 percent.

Talking about the big stocks, today's shares of Hindalco, UltraTech Cement, Hero MotoCorp, Titan, and TCS closed on the green mark. The shares of UPL, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid, and Axis Bank closed at the red mark.
GE T&D shares gain
GE&T, a power transmission, and distribution company said it has received shareholders' approval to double the borrowing limit to Rs 1,000 crore. The company said that a special resolution was approved at the 64th general meeting, which allowed borrowing up to Rs 1,000 crore in total. The company told the stock market that all resolutions were passed with an expected majority at the general meeting. After this, GE T&D stock saw a gain of 1.13 percent and closed at 89.35.

If we look at the sectoral index, today, apart from IT, auto and metal, all sectors closed on the red mark. These include Finance Services, Banks, Private Banks, FMCG, Realty, Pharma, Media, and PSU Banks.
