According to the Good Returns website, on Saturday, a day after the Akshaya Tritiya, gold prices saw an increase of Rs 1,300 per 100 grams. The price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold also increased by Rs 130 to Rs 44,850. In particular, gold prices in international markets are trading near a three-month high, while gold prices are hovering close to Rs 48,000 domestically.
In metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, the price of gold was below Rs 45,000 per 10 grams. The price of 22-carat gold in Mumbai was Rs 44,850 per 10 grams, while in Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata it is trading at Rs 46,050, Rs 44,920, and Rs 45,950 respectively.
Gold is being sold for Rs 44,650 (for ten grams of 22-carat gold) in the southern cities of Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram.
Talking to Zee Business, expert Anuj Gupta, Vice President (VP), Commodity and Currency Research at IIFL Securities recommends investing in gold, saying prices are likely to rise in the near term.
