Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio has taught a tremendous lesson to Chinese copycat companies. Famous Chinese companies have copied from Rolls Royce, Bajaj Pulsar to Tata Nexon, to mimic famous cars and bikes. But this time they got stuck by copying Piaggio's scooter and the company tasted them.
Mimic of Vespa Primavera
In fact, the Chinese two-wheeler company MotoLux’s and Dayi Motor mimicked the Piaggio scooter, Vespa Primavera. This copy was overshadowed by him. Piaggio sued the company for copying the design, in this battle Piaggio won and the design of the scooter made by the Chinese company was declared invalid.
Present at the 2019 EICMA Motorcycle Show
The copy of Piaggio's Vespa Primavera scooter was introduced by the Chinese company at the 2019 EICMA Motorcycle Show. The Chinese company lifted its scooter from the show following a complaint from the Italian company. But Piaggio did not stop here. It filed a complaint with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
After which EUIPO canceled the registration of the Chinese vehicle on the basis that the two vehicles are identical in appearance. Piaggio registered the design of the Vespa Primavera in 2013.
These are copy
At the same time, before this, Chinese companies have introduced a copy of the great bike like Triumph Speed Triple under the name Benda BS250GS. Apart from this, Geely GE is the Chinese version of Rolls Royce Phantom. The Lifan 330 car is a copycat version of the Mini Cooper and the Landwind X7 is the Range Rover Evoque.
