In India, the government and automobile companies are trying their best to make electric vehicles, how to make people aware of them, how to drive EVs on more and more roads. Despite its people not turning to electric vehicles, the data released by Tata Motors recently on the Nexon EV is shocking. Which shows the love of people towards electric vehicles in India.
This Tata electric car was launched in January 2020. As of now, it has sold 4,000 units in about 1 year. With this figure, it has also become India's best-selling EV in March 2021. According to the report, in the EV segment alone, the company sold 4,219 units in FY 2021. Which is three times more than the previous financial year.
The price of Tata Nexon currently starts at 13.99 Lakh (ex-showroom), the company offers it in three trims XM, XZ +, and XZ + Lux. However, it is needless to say that there is currently no competition in the market regarding the Nexon EV. Because electric cars include MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona, but the price of both these cars is quite high. That is, Tata Motors is more affordable than the other two options, and it covers a distance of 300 km on a single charge.
Talking about its features, it has auto climate control, auto headlights, electric sunroof, seven-inch infotainment screen, electric tailgate, park assist, auto rain-sensing wipers, etc. Its charging option includes a 15A home socket or fast charger. Sailesh Chandra, president of Tata Motors' passenger vehicle business, said, "It has consistently emerged as a market leader in its segment. We are very happy."
