The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in the country. Although the carmaker has not announced its launch timeline, if media reports are to be believed, it could be launched in September 2021. Ahead of its official arrival, patent renderings of the new 2021 Maruti Celerio have leaked online, giving us an accurate idea of its design.
Compared to the current generation with a squarish stance, the new generation Celerio gets a new grille and a new bumper with minimal creases, giving it a fresh look. There are triangle-shaped headlamps, which are connected via a thin chrome strip. Black elements around the fog lamps and apron accentuate its sporty front. The angular crease on the side profile continues as before. The long slim roofline indicates that the new Celerio will come with a longer wheelbase and a bigger glasshouse than the current model. The rear section will be revised with newly designed wraparound taillamps and bumpers
So far, the interior of the 2021 Maruti Celerio has not been disclosed. However, it is reported to get a touchscreen SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The feature list may also include steering-mounted controls, keyless entry and go power-adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and many more.
Media reports suggest that the new 2021 Maruti Celerio is built on the modular Heartect platform and will come with "a new 1.2-liter petrol engine". This is the same powertrain that is also given in the company's WagonR. Which generates 83 bhp of power along with 113 Nm of peak torque. Apart from this, the existing 1.0L petrol engine will also be offered in it. This motor is capable of generating 67bhp of peak power and 90Nm of torque. The hatchback can be offered with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox.
