Mahindra is preparing to launch an updated version of its flagship bike Mojo 300 with new BS6 fuel emission standards. The company has told me about this by releasing a teaser picture of its bike. The teaser of the motorcycle suggests that its launch is nearing completion. It will be Mahindra's first BS6 standard bike after launch.
The last time the Mojo was in the headlines was in August 2019, when Mahindra started delivery of the Mojo 300 ABS model. Let me tell you that initially, Mojo was available in UT and XT variants, but the company came out with only one model when the ABS safety standard was mandated in bikes.
Design and features
As far as the look and design of the new Mojo are concerned, according to the teaser, the BS6 model will not be very different from the BS4 model. The bike will continue to get twin headlamp clusters, muscular fuel tanks, minimal side panels with the front cowl as before. The BS6 Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS also has a semi-digital instrument cluster found in earlier models. It includes an analog counter for the tachometer and a digital screen for information such as speed, gear position, trip meter. A new item ABS Lite was recently added to this panel, which was added last year. Apart from this, it has a step-up style single seat. The bike will get alloy wheels and disc brakes on both sides.
Engine and braking
The BS6 Mojo 300 ABS is expected to get an upgraded engine compared to the BS4 model. It is a 300 cc liquid-cooled engine that generates a power of 27 bhp and torque of 30 Nm. As before, this engine will get a 6-speed gearbox. Mahindra can use the BS4 model hardware to keep the price of the new bike down. Talking about the suspension, telescopic forks can be found in the BS6 Mojo with gas-charged mono-shock. There will be 320 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes with ABS for braking.
Price and combat
The price of BS6 Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS is likely to be slightly higher than the BS4 model. The BS4 model of the bike was available for Rs 1.88 lakh, while the upcoming BS6 model can be priced around Rs 1.95 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom India. The Mojo 300 will compete with bikes such as the Bajaj Dominar 400 (Bajaj Dominar 400).
