Skoda will not launch any CNG model in India, says no plans yet

Troubled by the ever-increasing petrol price in India, people are turning to CNG and electric vehicles. People also want answers from the officials of auto companies on this subject. Talking about Skoda Auto as of now, the company has no plans to add a CNG kit to any of its existing or upcoming models in India in the future.

Skoda Auto India Brand Director Zack Hollis has confirmed that there are no plans to launch a CNG option in its popular sedan Rapide for Indian customers. For information, let us tell you that Skoda had earlier confirmed that it will no longer launch the new Rapid in India. Instead, the carmaker is now gearing up to launch a new model for the sedan segment for the Indian customers, which will be slotted over the existing Rapid model. Currently, this new sedan is being known as the codename ANB, which the company can launch under the name "Slavia".

Hollis responded last month on Rapid's launch

Hollis had earlier confirmed the launch of Rapid CNG in India in March. It was expected that Skoda would bring a new generation of a sedan with a CNG option in India this year. However, Hollis clarified last month that, "We will not be launching a new Rapid. We will be launching a new mid-size sedan at the end of the year. The upcoming Slavia Slavia (Skoda Slavia) MQB-AO-In platform will be launched." The Slavia is expected to be powered by a 1.0-liter TSI and a 1.5-liter TSI engine, while both will be offered with a manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission. Can offer in India.
