MG Motor India (MG Motor India), which has been successful with entry into the Indian automobile market, is continuously strengthening its brand value in the mid-premium segment. The Indian portfolio of the automaker currently has three products - Hector (Hector), Hector Plus (Hector Plus), and eZS (EZS). All these cars cost above 10 lakhs. The company's upcoming premium Gloster SUV will compete with Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor. In such a situation, the company is preparing to bring a new and low priced car in the Indian market.
According to reports, Rajiv Chaba, chairman and managing director of MG Motor India recently said that the brand's next product will focus on the mass market, and it will be cheaper than Hector
The company's top official said that the brand is establishing credibility so far. For this, the company resorted to a lesser number of products. Because in this view a small number of employees, dealers, and customers are needed. Now that these three are getting very good attention, the company is ready to move into the mass market segment. He also admitted that the brand would need more sales to make up for the huge investment in the Indian market.
MG ZS Petrol
However, Chaba did not reveal much about the company's upcoming new car. Given MG's vision of introducing the SUV in the Indian market, it is believed that its cheapest product will be a crossover that is smaller than Hector. Given that the company showcased the ZS petrol version at the Auto Expo earlier this year, and has now started testing the car as well, it could be the new car that MG is referring to.
The electric ZS car already exists in the Indian market. Its size and shape make it a rival to SUVs like the Hyundai Creta (Hyundai Creta) and Kia Seltos (Kia Celtos). A lot of cars are registered in this segment. Now that MG plans to bring its next car in the segment under Rs 10 lakh, it will be very interesting to see how the company will perform in this large market segment.
Engine and power
The same 1.5-liter engine can be used to power the new car MG ZS Petrol which generates 141 hp power and 250 Nm torque. Talking about transmission options, it can be given 6 MT and 6 DCT automatic gearboxes. It will be offered as a 5 seater SUV with internet technology features. Its price is expected to be 10 to 15 lakh rupees. Recently, the MG ZS facelift was launched in the UK. More or less, the same exteriors and interiors can be given in the India-spec MG ZS petrol. Investment in India
To launch new cars, MG Motor India will invest Rs 1,000 crore more in its Indian operations in a year for things like increasing dealership network, improving customer experience, after-sales service. Much of this investment will be made to increase production capacity at its Halol plant, increase the localization level even further from the existing 70-75 percent, and introduce new products.
