Kia Sonet SUV Finally Launched in India, Introduced in 15 Variants, know the Price, Mileage, More Than 30 Segment First Features


Kia Motors India (Kia Motors India) has launched its much-anticipated sub-compact SUV car Kia Sonet (Kia Sonnet) in India. This is the company's third product in India after Kia Motors India's popular SUV Seltos (Celtos) and luxury MPV Carnival (Carnival). The Kia Sonnet has been launched in 15 variants with 4 engines and 5 gearbox options in two trim lines. This SUV has more than 30 segment-first features.

According to Kia, Sonnet has more than 25000 bookings and the company is getting about 1000 bookings every day. The company started pre-booking of Kia Sonet from 20 August. People's obsession with SONET can be gauged from the fact that on the very first day of its pre-booking, 6,523 customers have booked Kia Sonet. Customers can pre-book this car by visiting the official website of Kia or the company's website by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. Sonnet's entry is taking place in the most competitive segment of the Indian car market, the sub-compact SUV and it will be contested here Maruti Maruti Vitara Brezza (Maruti Vitara Brezza), Hyundai Venue (Hyundai Venue), Tata Nexon (Tata Nexon), and Mahindra XUV300 (Mahindra XUV 300).

The engine

The Kia Sonet will be available with 3 engine options. It gets a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-liter petrol engine and 1.5 L CRDi WGT, and 1.5 L CRDi VGT as a diesel engine option. Both engines are BS6 standard ones. Talking about transmission options, there are many options in it. The car will get the 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT transmission options. The new feature iMT semi-automatic transmission, found in Venue, is also given in SONET. A 6-speed automatic transmission will be available with the diesel engine, which is a first in class feature, which is the first time in a car in this segment.

Look and design

Kia Signet will get Kia Signature Tiger Nose Grill, Heartbeat Tail Lamps, Halogen Headlamps, Muscular Front and Rear Skill Plates, Pole Type Antenna Standards. Kia Sonet's GT Line trim will feature 16-inch crystal cut alloy wheels with red wheel caps. At the same time, 15-inch steel wheels have been given in the base variants. The variants above will come with 16-inch metallic silver style wheels and one notch from the top with crystal cut alloy wheels in the lower variants, silver wheel caps.


The Kia Sonnet has several segment-first features. That is, these features will be available only in Kia Sonnet in trains of this segment. It will include features such as a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera. The SUV will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity. It has features like Bose 7 speaker system, electric sunroof, front ventilated seats, front parking sensors, smart pure air purifier with virus protection, Auto headlamps, etc. This car is equipped with 57 connected features, for which UVO connected technology will be available. Talking about safety features, safety devices like dual front airbags with ABS will be standard in the Kia Sonnet.

The Kia Sonnet will be available in 8 monotone colors. It includes Beige Gold, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Gray, Steel Silver, Intelligence Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White. Apart from this, Intense Red / Aurora Black Pearl, Beige Gold / Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl / Aurora Black Pearl will also be available in 3 dual-tone color options.

Price for every variant

The ex-showroom price of Kia Sonnet will start from Rs 6.71 lakh and the top variant has been priced at Rs 11.99 lakh.

The entry-level price of 6.71 lakhs will help Sonet to take an edge over its rivals like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon. The price of all these starts from a little higher. The Maruti Vitara Brezza starts at Rs 7.34 lakh, the Mahindra XUV300 has priced at Rs 7.95 lakh and the Tata Nexon starts at a slightly higher price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh. These are all ex-showroom prices in Delhi.

According to the leaked report, the mileage of the 1.2-liter petrol variant of the Kia Sonnet will be 18.4 km. This figure is according to the ARAI. This variant will be available only with a manual gearbox. This engine generates a power of 83PS and torque of 115 Nm. This variant of SONET can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 13.3 seconds. With the same engine and transmission options, the Hyundai Venue has a mileage of 17.52 kilometers per liter.
