Kia Motors India (Kia Motors India) is going to launch its much-anticipated sub-compact SUV car Kia Sonet (Kia Sonnet) on the 18th of this week. The company will reveal the prices of this car on the same day. The company started pre-booking Kia Sonet from 20 August. People's craze towards this car can be gauged from the fact that 6,523 customers have booked Kia Sonet on the very first day of its pre-booking. Customers can pre-book this car by visiting the official website of Kia or the company's website by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. The engine

Due to the Hyundai Venue being based on the engine, it is expected that the same engine and gearbox will be available in the Senate. The Kia Sonet will be available with 3 engine options. It will be a dual-clutch AT with 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, 5-speed manual transmission with a 1.2-liter petrol engine, and 6-speed manual transmission with 1.5-liter 100 PS diesel engine. The new feature iMT semi-automatic transmission, found in Venue, will also be found in Sonnet.

Kia variants

Like the company's other car Kia Celtos, the new Sonnet will also be offered in two options - GT Line (GT Line) and Tech Line (HT Line) [Tech Line (HT Line)]. The GT Line will come in three variants - GTK, GTX, and GTX +, while the Tech Line will be offered in four trims - HTE, HTK, HTX, and HTX +.

The Tech Line variants of the Kia Sonat will get 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engine option. Whereas the GT Line trims will get a 1.0-liter GDI turbo petrol engine. The GT Line variants will get sporty styling with red exterior accents, an all-black interior with red contrast stitching, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. While the Red Line will not be available in the Tech Line trims, it is likely to get a dual-tone black-beige interior and a round steering wheel instead. Let us know that recently Hyundai also introduced Sport trim for Venue, which is similar to the GT line variant of Sonnet.

According to the leaked report, the 1.2-liter petrol variant of the Kia Sonnet will have a mileage of 18.4 kmpl. This figure is according to the ARAI. This variant will be available only with a manual gearbox. This engine generates a power of 83PS and torque of 115 Nm. This variant of SONET can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 13.3 seconds. With the same engine and transmission options, the Hyundai Venue has a mileage of 17.52 kilometers per liter.

The 1.0-liter turbo petrol variant of the Kia Sonet will come with the EMT as well as the 7 DCT (dual-clutch transmission). This engine will generate 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of peak torque. The Kia Sonet 1.5-liter diesel engine will come with 6 MT (manual transmission) and 6 AT (automatic transmission) options. Power and torque outputs are different in both transmissions. Like Celtos, Kia Motors has left no coaxer in the design of Sonnet. The design is its USP, which sets it apart from the rest of the vehicles in this segment. The sonnet offers design elements such as tether note grille, heartbeat DRLs, bold front face, LED tail lamps, silver finish fox skid plate. It will be the widest SUV in the segment after its launch.


The Kia Sonnet will get some segment-first features. That is, these features will be available only in Kia Sonnet in the vehicles of this segment. It will include features such as a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera. The SUV will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity. This car will get UVO connected car technology with 37 features under 5 segments. Talking about safety features, safety devices like dual front airbags with ABS will be standard in the Kia Sonnet.
