A top company official says that India is among the top ten markets in the world for Renault. The company recently introduced Automated Manual Transmission (ATM) trim for the entry-level Kwid and the new model Triber. Apart from this, there are also manual transmission versions of these vehicles. The company is now set to further strengthen its product portfolio.


Venkataram Mamilapalle, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Renault India Operations in India said, "We will soon introduce a completely new turbo engine (Petrol) Duster. It will be the most powerful SUV in its segment. He said that apart from this, the company is preparing to bring completely new products for the Indian market. Venkataram said India is one of the important markets for Reno. It is among the top 10 global markets for the company in terms of total sales over the past few years.


Some highly popular global brands led by Kwid

He said Kwid has some very popular global brands in our portfolio. Kwid is one of the most prominent cars for the group globally. The company has recently introduced Tribar. Apart from this, Quid is still getting an encouraging response. Renault sales rose 75.5 percent to 6,422 units in July from 3,660 units in the same month last year. He said the company's sales have also increased due to the good response to the AMT version of the Kwid and Triber.

Giving information about the medium to long term strategy of growth in the rural market, Venkataram said that last year the company started an activity targeting 300 rural towns. He said that apart from this, we have also started a special project 'Vistaar' to increase penetration in the rural market. Our dealership has appointed sales consultants specializing in increasing penetration in rural markets. The rural market share has increased to 25 percent of the company's total sales in the April-June quarter, which was 19 percent in January-March.
