According to a report in DNA, the validity of a driving license is 20 years or till the age of the license holder is 50 years, whichever is earlier. When this validity expires, the driving license has to be renewed within one year. If the driving license is not renewed within a year, then the person will have to go through a lot of procedures to get the license again. This validity applies to all the states and union territories of the country.

Step 1: Log on to the website of the Transport Services Portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, parivahan.gov.in.

Step 2: Now, click on the "Online Services" tab at the top of the home page and select "Driving License related Services" from the options.

Step 3: Now, it will redirect a new page where one has to select his/her state name.

Step 4: Now, after selecting the state one has to select 'Apply for DL ​​Renewal' from the various options in the new page that opens.

Step 5: A page will be found showing the instructions to submit the application. After this, one has to fill the application.

Step 6: Now the document has to be uploaded in case any document is required.

Step 7: In the case of some states, one may also need to upload a photo and signature.

Step 8: After all these, the payment has to be made and the payment status has to be verified.

Step 9: Now one can download the receipt and take a printout of it for future reference.
