Luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has launched its new S-Class in India. The price of the S450 4MATIC trim of this car has been fixed at Rs 2.19 crore. At the same time, the price of its S400d 4MATIC variant has been kept at Rs 2.17 crore. The new S-Class is part of another 15 Mercedes-Benz vehicles to be launched in the company's lineup. Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Martin Schwenk says the company's product plans for 2021 are on track, and the new S-Class 15 is one of the launches.
Engine, power, and speed: The Mercedes-Benz S-Class S450 4MATIC variant comes with a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder petrol engine that makes 362 bhp power and 500 Nm peak torque. On the other hand, its S400d 4MATIC variant gets a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine that makes 325 bhp power and 700 Nm peak torque. Both the powerplants are mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The company claims that the new S450 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and the new S400d in just 5.4 seconds from 0 to 100 kmph.
Key Features of 2021 Mercedes S-Class: The highlight of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the MBUX Interior Assist. Using cameras, the MBUX system detects whether a passenger wants to exit the vehicle or not. The system then assesses whether a vehicle/road user is approaching the Blind Sport and the ambient light flashes red to warn the passenger from exiting the car.
Safety Features of the New Mercedes-Benz S-Class: The new S-Class gets 10 airbags, which include front airbags (world first) and center airbags for rear passengers. The car is also equipped with advanced driver assistance systems like Active Steering Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Lane-Keeping Assist, Active Lane Changing Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and exit warning function. Not only this, but the new S-Class also gets the Pre-Safe Impulse Side function which uses radar to detect side-effects and elevates the sedan.
