PC: Traditionally Modern

Instruction:

Grease a square or rectangular tray or plate with ghee and keep it aside.

Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom pan on low heat till it melts.

Add gram flour to the melted ghee and mix well to make a smooth paste. Make sure there are no lumps.

Cook the mixture of gram flour and ghee on low flame, stirring continuously so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

To make the syrup, heat the water and sugar together in a separate pan. Stir till the sugar dissolves completely and the syrup reaches one-string consistency.

Slowly add sugar syrup to the mixture of gram flour and ghee while stirring continuously. Be careful as bubbles will start to rise in the mixture.

Keep stirring the mixture vigorously till it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan. It should have a shiny texture.

Add a pinch of cardamom powder to the mixture and mix well.

Quickly pour the hot mixture onto a greased tray or plate and spread it evenly with the help of a ladle.

If desired, garnish the top with chopped nuts, pressing them gently into the mixture.

Let the Mysore Pak cool completely at room temperature.

When it cools down, cut it into square or diamond-shaped pieces and serve.
