The taste of Punjabi food tempts us every time. We have a myriad of dishes to choose from in Punjabi cuisine, both veg and non-veg. Sarson Ka Saag, Punjabi Butter Paneer Masala, Butter Chicken, and Amritsari Machhi are such amazing dishes that make our mouths water just by hearing their names. Not only this, there are such popular dishes which are generally preferred to be prepared on special occasions. Amidst all this, we are going to talk about another wonderful recipe for delicious Pindi Chole. Pindi Chole is one dish that is made in Indian homes for dinner parties or special occasions and it impresses us every time.

Pindi Chole is quite different from other Chole recipes. Onion, tomato, and garlic are not used in the recipe for making Pindi chole. Rather a special spice is prepared which works to enhance the taste of this dish. Apart from this, while boiling chickpeas, tea leaves are used in it, which gives a dark color to the chickpeas. On the other hand, spices like turmeric, and red chilies are used along with onions, and tomatoes in chana masala. Even though the method of making both recipes is different, the taste of both is tempting in its place.

How to make Pindi Chole

Keep the chickpeas soaked overnight. Take a clean cloth and put tea leaves, cinnamon, big and small cardamom, and bay leaves in it and make a bundle. Put the soaked chickpeas in a pan, add the spiced potli, salt, and water and boil for 1 hour. When the chickpeas are boiled, add turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, pomegranate arils, amchoor, and kasoori methi to it and mix well. Now keep them aside. Heat oil in a pan, add celery, ginger, garlic, and green chilies, and fry them. For the complete recipe of Pindi Chole, click here.
