Yogeshwar Dutt’s London Olympics Medal May Turn to Gold, says Reports


New Delhi: Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s London Olympics Bronze Medal may upgraded to gold medal as his opponent player Toghrul Asgarov was tested positive for banned substance.

The reports revealed that Asgarov of Azerbaijan, who won the gold medal in the men's 60kg freestyle category at the 2012 London Games, has tested positive for consuming performance enhancing drugs.

The four time world champion Besik Kudukhov was also tested positive for banned substance by WADA, Russian agency — flowrestling.org. In 2013, the player got died in a car crash in Russia

Both the gold medallist as well as silver medallist of London Olympics 2012 was tested positive in 60 kg category for banned substance. Yogeshwar Dutt achieved bronze medal in 60 kg freestyle wrestling in London Olympic Games 2012.

The news has not been confirmed yet. World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will discuss with United World Wrestling (UWW) body regarding this issue.

Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt is still waiting for the result by WADA. The samples which were obtained from the dope test have been stored in the deep Freezer for 10 years in order to allow the use of advance technology.

Currently, IOC has been re-testing the samples collected at London as well as 2008 Beijing Olympics, besides other international tournaments, keeping in view of the new rules.
