During early hours of Thursday a 23-year-old engineering student from Yemen committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel at the Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT).However the police has not recovered any suicide note from the spot from where the student jumped or from his hostel room.
According to police, the deceased identified as Moosa Ahmed Ali Mohammed was a native of Yemen and was pursuing B.tech in the Final year. The incident must have taken place during early hours when the victim went to the terrace and jumped off from the seventh floor of the Arvind Hostel.Thereafter, some students heard screaming and came out of the hostel.
"It was told that he jumped off from the seventh floor of her hostel late on Wednesday evening. The victim died immediately on the spot following grave head injury," said a senior police officer of Malviya Nagar Police station. Police said the students who were known to him told that he was a meritorious student and had always scored good marks. "There is no clear reason as to why he committed suicide.“
The police later said that the circumstantial evidences cleared that it was a suicide as the victim deliberately went to the terrace.
"We have also intimated the embassy of Yemen and only after the arrival of his parents the post mortem process would be started. The body has been kept at the mortuary of the Sawai Man Singh hospital," said a senior police officer.
Police have also taken the mobile phone of the deceased in possession to find out if there is some 'love' angle that led the youth to commit suicide. "We have scanned the room of the victim to find out if there is any suicide note but found none," the officer added.
