Women among 3 naxals killed in Dantewada encounter


DANTEWADA: On early Friday morning in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh at least three Maoists were killed in a fierce encounter with the police. According to sources, one of them, carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, was pinched by a squad of security personnel following a gun battle flanked by policemen and rebels in Dantewada. Sources has also further conveyed that, a squad of security personnel consisting of District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and CRPF had a face-off with armed guerrillas in the jungles near Nilavaya Mandeda.

The ultras also triggered an IED blast and commenced fire on the police squad to which the latter also retaliated. Based on inputs, a team of DRG had launched the operation in Faraspal’s interior forests, located on Dantewada-Bijapur border, around 450 km from here. A group of armed Naxals opened indiscriminate fire on the security personnel close to Kacheghat village following which an encounter broke out between the two sides. Bodies of three cadres, including a woman, clad in ‘uniform’ were later found. Besides, two .315 bore revolvers, a muzzle loading gun, some daily use items and two bags were also recovered from the spot. The SP also further conveyed adding that, a thorough search of the area is underway and more details were awaited.
