New Delhi: A pregnant woman gave birth to a baby boy in the police PCR van on Sunday while being rushed to the hospital.
The woman, Arti, was travelling in a train from Gwalior to Samalkha in Panipat when she felt labour pain. Her in-laws, who were accompanying her, got down at Sabji Mandi railway station early in the morning and sought help.
A railway employee called the police control room immediately. PCR van of the Delhi Police received a call about the woman being in pain.
While the woman was being taken to a hospital, she delivered the baby in the PCR van, said RK Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (PCR).
The cops drove to Hindu Rao hospital, where doctors said both the mother and the boy were in good health.
The woman and her child have been admitted to Bara Hindurao Hospital, said the officer. This is another example of good work done by Delhi Police’s PCR staff in the last few days, he said.
