West Bengal: Bangladeshi smuggler died in BSF firing, assistant wounded


Dhaka:  In a BSF firing, a 35-year-old Bangladeshi smuggler was allegedly died and his assistant wounded near Indo-Bangla border. The incident took place on Sunday.

The incident took place in northern Kurhigram area. Border Security Force started firing at Purbochhat Karaibari area at around 4 am, officials reported.

In the firing, assistant of Baharul wounded, the outpost’s commander Abdul Aziz said.

“Baharul Islam was a smuggler. That is why he had crossed the border so early in the morning and was shot,” he said.

Aziz added, “Troopers from BSF’s Gutalu camp fired at the Bangladeshis.” “A seriously injured Baharul tried to reach his home and died near his house,” he said.
