West Bengal: 3 injured as mob attacked police station


West Bengal: On Sunday late evening three policemen were wounded when a mob went crazy at a police station pelting stones and setting fire on parked vehicles, punctual police to fire numerous rounds in the air at Dhola Haat in South 24 Parganas district. A superior district police officer conveyed the mob went on a rampage when the policemen tried to appease them throughout a demonstration seeking arrest of 10 persons, blames in a current case of murder of a businessman in the area.

The police officer has also further conveyed that, as stones rained on the police station complex, three police staff, including the Officer-in-Charge, were wounded. The officer has also further conveyed that, superior officers there at the police station ordered blank firing to quell the crowd which in the interim torched a jeep and a motorcycle parked in the compound.

Villagers claimed that one Motin Laskar died in the dismissal and at least eight others were wounded as policemen fired at the direction of the mob. The senior police officer refused the claim concerning any damage or casualty between the civilians. Locals have also further conveyed that, additional SP Chandrasekhar Bardhan went to the area with a big force as the circumstances remained tense but under control. Police were conducting midnight raids in the area as male associates of households were leaving the village.
