Ingredients Of Walnut Cake With Icing

  • 200 gm butter
  • 200 gm castor sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 gm flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 100 gm finely chopped walnuts
  • Icing:
  • 2 egg whites
  • 300 gm icing sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cream
  • Walnut halves to decorate

How to Make Walnut Cake with Icing

  • Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually beat in eggs.
  • Fold in flour, baking powder and walnuts.
  • Mixture should be of a soft, dropping consistency. If not, stir in 1 tbsp milk.
  • Bake in a greased and lined 8″ round tin at 180 degrees C for about 30 minutes or until well risen and firm to the touch.
  • Turn out and cool.

For the icing:

  • Whip egg whites until stiff.
  • Gradually whisk in sugar.
  • Stir in cream.
  • Pour over cake.
  • Serve decorated with walnut halves.
