New Delhi: Ex India batsman VVS Laxman has recommended Mahendra Singh Dhoni to permit young people to take part in India’s T20 team but carry on playing one-day internationals following the ex India captain’s unresponsive bang became one of the cause for India’s thrash in the second T20 international against New Zealand in Rajkot on Saturday.
“I feel it’s time for MS Dhoni to give youngsters a chance in the T20 format. It will be an opportunity for a youngster to blossom and get confidence playing international cricket. He is definitely an integral part of ODI cricket,” Laxman stated.
India were running following a demanding197 to triumph the match and take an unquestionable 2-0 score in the three-match T20I series, though Indians couldn’t able to fulfill the score and lost the match by 40 runs.
“In T20s, Dhoni’s character is at No. 4. He needs more time to get his eye in and then do the work. Therefore today was a great instance, since when Virat Kohli was batting, Dhoni had to give hit to Kohli. Kohli’s strike rate was 160, Dhoni’s strike rate was 80. That’s not good enough when India were chasing a mammoth total,” Laxman stated.
MS Dhoni did up the bet and finished up hitting 49 off 37, though he set his foot on the accelerator too behind to alter the outcome of the game in India’s support.
Ex- India pacer Ajit Agarkar reversed Laxman and recommended MS Dhoni should take decision about his T20I career as India won’t succeed to spot him in the arrangement.
