VIJAYAWADA: Bharatiya Janata Party Chief K Haribabu has been suspended as its party leader and activist raised a banner of revolt against the state leadership.
On Tuesday, the Chief of BJP was arrested for raising anti-party activities in Vijayawada.
State party general secretary Jammula Syam Kishore said, “The state unit president had suo moto action against Dr Raju after conducting an internal inquiry into his misdeeds.”
The protest was held by the leaders in Vijayawada against him on Tuesday. It stated that the interim president of the state unit of the party had no control to suspend Dr Raju.
Sources affirmed, ”Party state leadership took a serious note of party workers staging a protest near the party office in the city on Monday. The activists had shouted slogans against Haribabu and ministers in the state cabinet for failing to get the nominated posts in the state government. The state party leaderships is of the view that it was engineered by Dr Raju”
"The issue is of serious nature. We will now recommend the case to the disciplinary committee headed by Dr Lakshmpathi," said Syam Kishore.
Dr Raju said, "I am an elected president. Haribabu has no authority to suspend me," fumed Raju.
