Surat: Speaking about the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2017, Rohit Patel, minister of state (MoS) industry & mines, said on Tuesday, “The government of Gujarat is organizing the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from January 10-13, 2017 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. The central theme for the summit is ‘Gujarat: Connecting India to the World’.”
“We have already got confirmation of 12 Nobel laureates in Science so far and expect more. Total 8 countries have confirmed their partnership,” Patel said. “We have planned 16 pre summit seminars, 12 international delegations roadshows, 6 national and state roadshows as well as 5 mega international forums like Nobel Laureates Symposium (10th January 2017), Global CEO Roundtable (10th January 2017), Conference on International Development Finance (11th January 2017, GST: Game Changer for Indian Economy (11th January 2017) and MSME Convention: Stand up Gujarat (12th January 2017),” Patel said.
“The theme of the events is aligned with the sector initiatives of the Union government announced in the last two years.For successful organization of these events, we would seek the support of various departments of the government of India, Indian missions abroad and from central PSUs,” Patel said.
He added, “For the presummit events planned across various sectors between August December 2016, the respective nodal departments have been informed to finalize the dates, venues, themes, topics and speakers. Some pre-events are also being planned across different cities of the state,” he added. The minister also said that there will be a major khadi fashion show also to increase the global outreach of the khadi industry of Gujarat.
