The HX250R is one of the most important bikes to be launched by Hero as it will be the flagship motorcycle of the firm. Hero MotoCorp unveiled the HX250R as a design model at the Auto Expo 2014 and it was intended to enter the market in 2015. However, bankruptcy of the U.S. based Eric Buell Racing (EBR), the technical partners of HX250R, last year led to a delay in launch. Emerging reports now indicate that Hero has planned the launch of the fully faired motorcycle early next year.

The HX250R will draw power from a 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve liquid cooled, fuel injection engine capable of producing 31bhp of power and 26Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed transmission. Hero claims 0-60kmph speed can be achieved in 2.7 seconds.
The motorcycle will employ telescopic front forks and a five-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. It is expected to run on Pirelli rubbers and stopping power will come from 300mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes. The motorcycle measures 2,085mm in length, 735mm in width and 1,145mm in height with a ground clearance of 145mm. The HX250R weighs just 136kg and features 12.9-litre fuel tank capacity.

Typical to the super sport motorcycle, the HX250R will come with twin projector headlamps, LED DRLs and tail lamps, underbelly exhaust, clip-on handle bar, split seats, digital instrument cluster and segment leading dual riding modes — City and Sport.

The model is likely to get launched around the festive season this year and being a completely local development, sticker price would be on north of Rs 1.5 lakhs. The HX250R will lock its horns with the likes of upcoming KTM RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS, Hyosung GD250R and the last but not the least Honda CBR250R.
