Former India pace bowler Venkatesh Prasad resigned from the post of chairman and junior national selection committee on Friday. He took this decision after India clinched ICC U-19 World Cup tournament.
Junior national selection committee member Venkatesh Prasad decided to quit from the post due to the personal problems.
“It’s still not understandable but there are probabilities that he might be joining any IPL team and that’s why he sought to keep away from a latent conflict of interest,” a senior BCCI official stated.
Venkatesh Prasad was chosen as chairman of the senior selection committee in year 2016. He took part in several international matches as compared to other six national selectors.
In the recent times, following the Indian junior team clinch the U-19 World Cup, the selection panel was not provided with any cash prize. But later they were rewarded by BCCI after both the senior men’s and women’s team were thrashed away in Champions Trophy and World Cup tournament respectively.
COA member Diana Edulji wrote, “Selectors were rewarded for selecting good team”
