PUDUCHERRY: AICC General Secretary and former Union minister of state V Narayansamy has been appointed as the chief minister of Puducherry. AICC observer Sheila Dixit said that he was unanimously elected the leader of congress legislature party at a meeting of all the newly elected members.
Narayanasamy had served as the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office in the second UPA government, after serving as MoS Parliamentary Affairs in the first UPA government. He did not contest the May 16 Assembly election, and will now have to seek election to the legislature in a bypoll.
Narayanasamy said that he would stake claim to form the government on a date to be decided in consultation with the party.Narayanasamy ,In the 30 member Assembly, the congress which has won ,15 seats will require the support of its ally, the two member DMK to have full majority.
