Uttar Pradesh: Local Samajwadi Party leader gunned down dead in Ballia district


BALLIA: Two motorcycle-borne assailants gunned down local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader near Gopalpur Baghaut village in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Sumer Singh. He was famous SP’s former district unit secretary. At the time of attack, he was going for a wedding ceremony along with his friend. The two accused attacked over the face of SP and started firing on him. He died on the spot.

Police superintendent Sujata Singh stated that, the son of deceased filed an FIR against four persons who noticed to have the fight over elections in the village.

Sumer Singh’s wife is the ‘gram pradhan’ in Ballia and he was the previous village head. The investigation is in process and the probe is being carried out to bust the assailants.
