HYDERABAD: A first year student of University of Hyderabad committed suicide in the L hostel today. The matter came to limelight when victim’s room-mate found him hanging from the ceiling at around 5 am.
The name of the victim has been identified as Praveen Kumar. When his hostel mates came to know about the incident, his was immediately shifted to the university health care centre for the treatment.
"When the body was bought to the medical centre, the medical officer on duty had found him to be lifeless. Every possible treatment was given to bring him back to life. However, later we had to shift him to a private hospital for further treatment as we don't have higher level equipment such as a ventilator. He was declared dead as soon as he was shifted to the private hospital," Dr Ravindra Kumar, chief medical officer said.
The reports revealed that he was pursuing Master of Fine Arts in painting subject. From last three months, he had left the hostel in which he was staying.
Sources said, “He was a resident of Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district. The victim belongs to the backward class.”
Room No. 204 of University has been locked by the security officials. The investigation is in process by the police officials.
