Uma Bharti to hold meeting of CMs of Odisha, Chhattisgarh over Mahanadi water dispute


Bhubaneswar: Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said on Wednesday that she has convened a meeting of Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Odisha to sort out Mahanadi water dispute at the earliest.

“A meeting to solve the Mahanadi issue would be held between Chief Ministers of both Odisha and Chhattisgarh. A suitable date as decided by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would be fixed, upon which the meeting would be conducted,” Bharti said adding “They can select any day between September 10 and 20.”

Notably, earlier on the day,  six BJP leaders including BJP President Basant Panda, senior leader Suresh Pujari from the State led by Union PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bahrti to discuss the Mahanadi row.
