Udaipur: In a case of suspected honour killing, a youth murdered his friend as he suspected that the victim was into an illicit relationship with his sister, in Udaipur on Tuesday night. The accused was assisted by his three other friends who helped him dump the body in a dam after strangulating him to death. The body was found floating on Thursday morning.
Bheru Singh, the victim was a resident of Ghodo-Ka-Kheda village of Kanod block in Udaipur. Singh had a love marriage two months ago, however, he was reportedly in a physical relationship with his friend’s sister. His friend Lokendra Singh was furious to know about the affair and wanted to take a revenge.
On Tuesday night, Bheru Singh was last seen with Lokendra and his friends. Next morning, his mobile and some blood stains were seen at the road side. Suspecting a murder, the victim’s family reported the matter to police who took Lokendra and his friends into custody.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to have killed Bheru Singh. Lokendra was reported to have struck several blows on Bheru Singh’s head and later was suffocated to death. The body was later dumped in a small dam nearby falling in Dungla block of Chittorgarh district.
Deputy SP Manoj Sharma and teams from Dungla, Mangalwad and Kanod police stations went to the spot and found the body floating over the water surface. Police had to struggle to disperse a large crowd that had gathered at the spot. There were some wounds seen on the body, police said. The Dungla police has arrested Lokendra Singh and Mohan Singh on murder charges while three others have been detained, sources said.
