Udaipur: 63-yr-old retired RAS officer kills self


Udaipur: A shocking incident occurred on Monday evening in Udaipur when a 63-yr-old retired RAS officer kills self by hanging to a ceiling of his room in his paternal temple in Devali area of Ambamata police station.

Police officials conveyed that the deceased identified as Shantilal Nagda (retired RAS officer). Prior to hanging self, he also tried to cut his wrists as well. Police further conveyed that Nagda served on different positions, counting devasthan, excise departments and as registrar of two universities in Udaipur.

Police officials did not recover any suicide note from the spot but is predicting depression as the main cause for this step. Netrapal Singh, SHO Ambamata further conveyed that Nagda reach temple daily and spent time here.

He use to rest on second floor room of the temple. And on Monday evening again Nagda went to rest in the room but did not came down even following 8 pm. The temple priest saw blood drops in one of the room and when he knocked, it was locked from inside and Nagda did not respond.

Then Neighbours broke the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. Police further added that Nagda retired as Devasthan commissioner three years before and as then had been complaining of boredom.

Family members conveyed that his wife lately been promoted as Prinicipal and had been transferred to Chittorgarh. Police informed family members about the incident and all were in shock.
