Two New Metro Rail Lines to be inaugrated by CM J Jayalalithaa soon


CHENNAI:  Two new metro lines will be inaugurated by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. This metro line will connect nine-kilometre line from Little Mount Little to the airport.

This initiative will help the local people to reach to the specific destination as soon as possible. It will provide benefit to Koyambedu, Ashok Nagar and Ekattuthangal area people to access to the airport easily.  People will come across four stations to reach to the airport -Guindy , Alandur, Nanganallur Road and Meenambakkam.

New metro station St Thomas Mount will inaugurated in October.  But is not confirmed that whether the trains will run up to that station.

The services will be operated according to the schedule with a frequency of every 10 minutes, senior metro rail official said.

"Depending on the patronage, we will decide whether or not to make changes in the schedule. But night time is allotted for train maintenance, which is a very important element in operating the service," official side.

The elevated line will help the local people to get the suburban services at Guindy. Passengers can alight at Guindy and walk to the Guindy suburban station to head anywhere between Beach and Chengalpet station.
