Two militants died in Padgampora gunfight: Police


Nearly Two Hizbul-Mujahideen militants died in a gunfight that took place in Padgampora village in Awantipora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani asserted that the attack took place at Padgampora when police officials were coming back from Pulwama to Awantipora after making their presence in an election review meeting.

“Three militants who were travelling in a private car opened fire on the police party after spotting it near Padgampora,” Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani affirmed.

At Least two militants died in a gunfight while another tried to flee.

IGP affirmed,“It was a chance encounter.”

The terrorists were found as Shahbaz Ahmed Wani aka Rayees aka Kachoor of Belo village in Rajpora, Pulwama and Farooq Ahmed Hura of Nazneenpora village in Shopian district.

The rumors revealed that commander Riyaz Naikoo died in the gunfight. As per police officials, Rayeees, 21 was very active in the terrorists ranks since June 2016.
