Twitter users can now share more in their 140 character word limit. Although the word limit is still 140 characters but from now on media attachments like GIF’s , Pictures, Videos etc will not be counted against the Twitter’s 140 character word limit.
The company unveiled thios feature on Monday in tweet which said, ” Say more about what's happening! Rolling out now: photos, videos, GIFs, polls, and 'Quote Tweets' no longer count toward your 140 characters”
Twitter CEO and cofounder, Jack Dorsey had said in May, “One of the biggest priorities for this year is to refine our product and make it simpler… We’re focused on making Twitter a whole lot easier and faster. This is what Twitter is great at – what’s happening now, live conversation and the simplicity that we started the service with.”
Earlier, Twitter planned to build up a new feature which will allow its users to tweet in more than its traditional ongoing word limit of 140 characters. The company considered a word limit of 10,000 characters, the limit which the company uses for its Direct Messages product.
The Twwet feature was expected to be rolled out with a new word limit but the company had some other plans and hence, they said that the 140 charater limit has here to stay, CEO Jack Dorsey said that it is a beautiful constraint and twitter will never lose that feeling so instead of creating a new word limit Twitter decided to stop counting media attachments against 140-character limit.
