Tuticorin: Speeding truck rammed over tourist van, 3 killed


Tuticorin: A hard-hitting occurred as a speeding truck rammed over a parked tourist van, which had a puncture, close to Kayathar in Tuticorin district on Thursday morning. Three women (from Gujarat and West Bengal) killed and 12 other sustained grievance.

The departed were recognized as Kansaben, 47, wife of Sureshbai; Kansenben, 48, wife of Mansoonbai, both hailing from Surat in Gujarat and Kiskidis, 70, wife of Karendra Chandradoss, traveling from Kolkata in West Bengal.

Police officials conveyed that the dead were amongst a group of tourists from different states. The tourists reached Madurai few days before. They arrived at different tourist spots in the city, counting the famous Meenakshi Amman temple. On that morning, they hired a tourist van and stepped out on a trip to Kanyakumari district.

Police further added that the vehicle had a puncture close to Kayathar. As the driver was replacing the puncture, some of the tourists came out of the vehicle. And as then an onion-laden speeding truck hit the van from back.

The truck was driven by Shankar Ganesh of Madurai and traveling to Thiruvananthapuram. The impact of the collision was so harsh that both vehicles undergo extensive damage. The wounded people been admitted to Tirunelveli Administration Medical College Hospital.
