A Russian man believed of warfare for Isil was arrested in Turkey on Thursday for allegedly conspiring to carry out militant attacks on a US military plane, reports said.
The accused has been found as Renat Bakiev. He was believed to be an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) terrorist who was planning to assault the İncirlik air base in Adana.
Mr Bakiev was arrested close to the airbase, where he purportedly turn up on a bike to investigate the area ahead of the assault.
As per Hurriyat newspaper, Mr Bakiev admitted to plan gunfire on a US military plane with a drone.
He was also believed of executing plan for a plan to assault a centre of the Alevi religious minority – an offshoot of the Shia sect of Islam – in Adana city.
Russian embassy in Turkey stated, “This morning Turkish media reported [the police] detaining Russian national Renat Bakiev on Turkish soil upon suspicion that he was involved in terrorist activities.”
“The Russian consulate is working on clarifying the situation and the circumstances of the case,” embassy spokeswoman Irina Kasimova stated.
It was not right away known how he handled to comeback to Turkey.
