The trailer for Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming biopic ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, which was released on Thursday, seems to put those fears at rest, at least partly.

A lot may be known about the life and career of the Indian skipper, but the trailer promises that the film will shed light on not just the glory moments, but the early trials and tribulations, the small-town parental pressures and overall struggles that Dhoni had to deal with before he became an internationally renowned player as well.

‘Mohenjo Daro’ Movie Review

The trailer takes us through all the big moments in MSD’s life, starting from Dhoni’s school days in Ranchi and culminating in what has to be MSD’s biggest career high – the 2011 World Cup.

A big chunk of the film, at least from the looks of the trailer, seems focus on Dhoni’s time as a ticket collector at Karagpur Station from 2001-2003.

There are a couple of moments in the trailer devoted to Dhoni’s romance with his childhood sweetheart and wife Sakshi. Our only hope is that they don’t go off into the sunset singing a duet in what is essentially a sports biopic.

Sushant Singh Rajput, who was last seen in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy last year, aces the looks bit. Rajput looks eerily like the cricket captain, especially in the sequences with Dhoni’s long hair. The body language, the helicopter shots, and those sideburns – all spot on.

But it still remains to be seen whether the acting and the storyline is up to the mark.

Produced by Fox Star Studios and Inspired Entertainment, the film is slated for release on September 30, 2016. The film also stars Anupam Kher in the role of Dhoni’s father.
