Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the leading giant Japanese automaker is all set to hit the Indian market with launch the all new Fortuner SUV in sometime during the month of November this year.

The company in an official statement informed, "One of the most anticipated product launches of the year, the All-New Fortuner will be loaded with an array of new and improved features including a new and powerful engine, stylish exterior and luxurious interiors."

"Known for its enhanced off-roading capabilities, the new Fortuner will continue to deliver Toyota’s promise of Quality, Durability & Reliability and Increased Safety."

Like the Innova Crysta, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will be equipped with features such as LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Down Hill Assist Control (DAC) system, electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation and reversing camera.

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner’s engine lineup will be sourced from the Toyota Innova Crysta, which includes the 2.4-liter GD diesel engine with 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque and a 2.8-liter GD diesel engine that produces 174 PS and 360 Nm of torque. The torque figures could be slightly more in the 2016 Fortuner though.

Also, Toyota would include the 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which was recently introduced on the Innova due to the uncertainty of large diesel engine cars in Delhi-NCR (at present, cars with diesel engines larger than 2,000 cc need to pay an additional 1 percent cess). Transmission options will include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes, while a 4WD system will be offered in the top-end grades.

The prices of the all new 2016 Toyota Fortuner are expected to start from INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to INR 32 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top spec model. The same will compete against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Jeep Compass.

Toyota offers an entire range of mid-sized and premium SUVs for the Indian roads, and Toyota Fortuner is one such key product which has grabbed the customer’s attention ever since its launch in 2009, in India.
