Thousands in Dausa bid final farewell to Kashmir martyr

Dausa: Reservation may have divided Meena and Gujjar communities of Dausa in the past. However, it was a different atmosphere at Khavaraoji village near Dausa when the body of martyr Ghanshyam Gujjar, wrapped in tri-colour, reached the village. Thousands of people from both communities gathered to bid a tearful adieu to the hero of their village. Since morning, villagers thronged the martyr's house to pay tributes. People chanted patriotic and anti-Pakistan slogans as the body of Ghanshyam was consigned to flames.

The family and villagers were waiting for the arrival of the body since late Saturday evening. The moment the vehicle carrying the body of Ghanshyam, a jawan with Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) posted in Kashmir, arrived on Sunday morning, people thronged the area.

"He will be known as a man who sacrificed his life for our peace. We will always provide proper support for his family," said Ramkishan Meena, a native of Nangal Rajawatan village, who had come for the funeral.

Public representatives, including MLAs Golma Devi from Rajgarh and Alka Singh from Bandikui, Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla, Gujjar leaders and Dausa district collector Ashfaq Hussain, also paid their last respects to the martyr. "We had planned to get him married after Diwali. This was totally unexpected," said a relative. Ghanshyam was killed in a terrorist attack on a convoy near Zakura village of Srinagar in Kashmir on Friday.
