The distressing footage shows the teenager scalped after her hair was caught in the fairground attraction, according to reports. In the clip, another young girl is seen trying to comfort the schoolgirl while a crowd gathers and men attempt to free her.
The girl, who is bleeding from the head, appears to be semi-conscious during the scary ordeal. The accident took place outside a college in Baraut, India – 40 miles north of the capital Delhi.
The girl, believed to be 16-years-old, reportedly got dangerously close to the ride to get the perfect shot.
But it all ended in disaster at the college, in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, as her hair became entangled and was slowly pulled out by the spinning wheel.
The girl is now believed to be recovering in hospital after she was freed by the ride operator. It is thought the Ferris wheel was set up as part of celebrations for Dussehra – a Hindu festival marking the victory of a goddess who defeated a demon. The clip has since gone viral with many sharing the video on social media.
